Newsflash

WildFest SA Program Overview:  The program offers something for everyone:  lectures, workshops, and field trips; cycling, paddling, hiking, birding, and star-gazing activities; special events at the San Antonio Zoo, Bracken Bat Cave, and other unique locales within San Antonio and the surrounding areas; and self-guided and structured events along the renowned River Walk, at the San Antonio Missions  National Historical Park, and at other cultural, natural, and environmental treasures.

The festival will be held at venues throughout Bexar (pronounced “bear”) County, from Medina Natural Area and Mitchell Lake Audubon Center in the south to Government Canyon in the west, Fredrich Park to the north, and the Botanical Garden just northeast of the heart of downtown San Antonio.  Field trips, workshops, and seminars will focus on birds, plants, bats, history, art, archaeology, geology, water and other topics linked to nature.

DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES,
WILFEST SAN ANTONIO HAS BEEN CANCELLED THIS YEAR.

Our sincere apologies for your disappointment and inconvenience.
However, please visit and enjoy our great parks and natural areas.

General Information

Most events are family-friendly. Those with a minimum age limit are not suitable for young children due to any number of reasons: the need to stay still and/or quiet for periods of time that would be difficult for youngsters, physical demands in what may be very warm weather, complexity of a presentation geared toward an older audience. We have made every effort to provide family- and child-friendly events in every subject area.

Several trips require that participants sign a liability waiver in order to participate. Signature of an adult parent or legal guardian will be required for all participants under 18 years of age. Waivers will be available for your review on this website as soon as they are available.

All participants under 16 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult. There will be no exceptions.

Unless otherwise noted in field trip descriptions, trips do not present significant physical challenge greater than walking at a moderate pace over gently sloping ground on fairly level surfaces.

Please contact us regarding specific questions regarding access for wheelchairs.

Specific size and weight limitations will apply for some caving trips. These are dictated by the size of
openings in natural caves and will be enforced. Participants in caving trips should expect to get dirty and
possibly wet.

San Antonio weather can change very quickly, but in general we can expect warm weather for our
festival. Participants should check weather forecasts daily and be prepared for rain, warm temperatures
and bright sunlight.

CLOSED TOE SHOES, SUN PROTECTION, WATER and INSECT REPELLANT are strongly
recommended for outdoor events.
