| Explore a Cave Under San Antonio: Robber Baron TCMA members Venue: Robber Baron Cave Robber Baron is one of the most significant of the over 500 Bexar County caves. It is the longest cave in the county, one of the most geologically complex caves, and has a rich history. Six blind invertebrate species found nowhere else on earth have been discovered in the cave, two of which are listed endangered by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. On this trip, we will climb and crawl through some of the maze-like passages of this cave. This trip is for participants 10 and older who are in good physical condition and who don’t mind getting dirty. Hiking boot and gloves are suggested. Helmets, lights and kneepads will be provided. WAIVER REQUIRED. |

Event Code G004 Start Time 9 AM Venue Fee $0 Group Size 20 | Fish and Bugs Are Fun David Hernandez Venue: Martin Luther King Park The best way to learn about riparian habitats is to get in with the fish and bugs and get wet. During this field trip along Salado Creek at Martin Luther King Park, you will collect and study fish and aquatic insects, collect and test water samples, measure water flow, and assess the habitat quality. The field trip will be guided by subject-matter experts from the San Antonio River Authority. Attendees should plan to get wet and bring a change of clothes, sun block, insect repellent, and a cap or hat with a brim. Youth Friendly, ages 11-17 accompanied by an adult. |

Plants will be identified by past and present uses as well as their potential for landscaping. Guided hikes are limited to the first 15 participants, but attendees are welcome to take self-guided tours from 9 a.m. to noon.

Almost without fail, they all leave for dinner at dusk each evening. Join us for a truly unique experience. Access to the Bracken Cave is via a private, gated, unpaved ranch road. Map available at Registration Desk. MEET at gate to the property on Natural Bridge Caverns Road at 6:00 P.M. | Night Sounds/Owl Prowl at the Medina River Richard Heilbrun Venue: Medina River Natural Area Many creatures are only active at night. Participants will search for elusive critters that make the Medina River Natural Area home. Learn to identify night creatures by listening to their various calls, chirps, and croaks. After a presentation, the group will move into the natural area and, using owl calling techniques attempt to observe owls hunting. Participants must be at least 4 years of age. |
